Q: How do I know if you have an application to fit my vehicle?
A. If your vehicle was made after 1980; then we most likely have the correct size for your exact vehicle. During the order process you will be asked to provide your exact vehicle info.
Q. Do you make Steering Wheel Covers to fit my classic car, my golf car, my child’s pedal car, my boat, my motorhome, etc?
A. Yes we sure do; even though you will need to provide us with just (2) basic measurements. The first is the overall outside diameter of the steering wheel; and secondly we will need the grip circumference of the steering wheel. When measuring around the grip, measure at the top of the wheel and around the highest point of the slight finger bumps that are on the back side of most wheels. Don’t measure at the thumb rests that are on many modern wheels at the 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock positions. The leather is elastic enough to stretch over the thumb rests. Special Order sizes are generally necessary for older or antique vehicles, or aftermarket steering wheels.
Q. Do you make Steering Wheel Covers to fit my Heavy Duty Truck?
A. Yes, we make covers in 18”, 20” and 22” sizes for heavy duty trucks such as Peterbilt, Freightliner, Kenworth, etc. (Please see the above listed answer on how to provide us with the proper measurements).
Q. How are Wheelskins Steering Wheel Covers installed?
A. Each cover comes complete with a nylon lacing cord, a needle, and illustrated detailed installation instructions. The holes are pre-punched with a patented lacing hole reinforcement to prevent tearing during installation. The time required is approximately 60 minutes.
Q. My Steering Wheel has wide spokes. How do I deal with the spokes during installation?
A. The illustrated Installation Instructions provided with your Wheelskins will show you how to lace around the spokes, or to use dummy stitches at the spokes if they are wider than about 1 ½ inches where they connect to the wheel.
Q. How do I clean and maintain my Steering Wheel Cover?
A. Your Wheelskin is made of leather that is specifically tanned and finished for this product. We recommend that you gently use only water and a soft sponge or paper towel to remove any surface soil buildup. Avoid all purpose cleaners and protectants that will remove the special finishes and coatings on the leather. Also, most leather cleaners are made for the extremely hard finishes found on upholstery leathers , and these cleaners are unsuitable for the softer Wheelskins leathers. In addition, many perfumes, colognes, after shave lotions, and hand sanitizers contain alcohol and other chemicals that can harm the leather. We recommend that your hands be free of these substances before you drive.
